Sunshine PT is an active private physical therapy practice located in the Long Island town of Commack, NY.
Like all medical practices today, Sunshine staff has to deal with a tremendous amount of paperwork and documentation – all of which is covered by stringent federal and state regulations. IT needs are not complex, but patient data privacy, network reliability, data safety and backup, and secure Internet access are crucial.
For many years, Sunshine had a typical Windows LAN with a server and a few workstations shared by administrative and clinical staff using a few custom applications. The budget for IT was very limited, and before working with IntelliTree, Sunshine suffered numerous problems and frustrations with their network, PCs and connectivity.
Peace of Mind on a Small Budget
In late 2004, it became clear that the network and PCs needed to be upgraded to be able to run new software applications, improve system reliability and increase productivity. In addition to basic network issues, there were problems with data back up, and with both the phone company and cable company relative to getting high-speed Internet with remote access capability.
Sunshine turned to IntelliTree for a complete solution that could be accomplished on a small budget. IntelliTree sourced, purchased and installed new PCs and network hardware, and devised a solution for remote access. Sunshine signed on as a Managed IT customer so that they could have a LiveCD™ server and all the associated benefits.
Under Managed IT, Sunshine now has a reliable network with features they never expected to have within their budget including shared calendars, shared email under their own sunshinept.com domain, high-tech spam filtering, VPN remote access, and automated data backups that require no interaction from Sunshine's staff.
Since Managed IT is billed at a low, flat monthly rate, Sunshine management doesn't have to worry about any surprises. When a problem does occur, it is quickly handled by IntelliTree's on-call technicians who can take over the PC remotely to resolve almost any issue.
